写真はそれを共有可能な情報にするプロセスの中でいくつもの形式を必要とする。 ほとんどの場合で被写体や記録媒体を一時静止 させる必要があり、また光を平面的に捉えるプロセスに依存する。その制約ゆえに写真画像は容易に複製可能となり、ネット上でも誌 面でも家族アルバムに貼り付けられたものでも経年劣化等の時間の変化と情報操作の可能性を含めなければ、画像サイズや出力方法を 変えながら様々な媒体で同様に表示される。しかしながら、被写体をある形式に当てはめて記録する際には、当然ながら情報の欠落が 発生する。その欠落をなるべく少なくして、そのままの状態で捉えることはできないか。また、ある形式を与えられた反発によって偶 発的に生成される形やズレを捉えたい。そういう欲望からこの新作を制作している。

写真Tシャツは内部の被写体に密着してほとんど動かないが、着用するうちにズレが生じてしわができる。それが日光に照らされて 服全体に立体的な陰影をつくる。その像が記録されたTシャツは複製することができないが、生の記録を伝える生々しい"写真"だと考 えている。 布上に定着するしわの像は露光した際の天候や季節によって異なる紫外線の強さ、布の材質、しわの深さなどによって変化する。 し わの形状に最も影響するのは着用者の体型と T シャツサイズとの関係だが、この展示では個別の体型や性別を問わず既製品の M サイ ズのみを使用することにした。これもまた形式を与える作業である。

今後「夏の陽」は、写真Tシャツプロジェクトとして様々な人々の生の記録を行うものに発展させたい。 夏の短い期間の展示だが ぜひ見ていただき、興味があれば被写体として参加してほしい。

Photography requires several forms in the process of making them as information to be shared. In most cases, photography needs to make the subject and record medium stop their moving temporarily. Also, it relies on the process to capture light only as planar object. Because of such restriction, photographs on the net, in a magazine or even in a family photo album can be easily duplicated and be shown equally in various media as they change their sizes or output methods, on the condition that they possibly do not change due to time-related deterioration, and their information are not manipulated. However, when a subject for a photograph is taken by a certain form, naturally some information of the subject is missed. I wondered if I could take the subject as it is, lessening the missing information as much as possible. Also, I would like to capture forms or differences which are generated accidentally by repelling the forms required. These wishes urges me strongly to produce the new works.

The photo-T-shirt hardly moves as it sticks to the inner subject (a person who wears the shirt) at first, but the shirt slips and makes wrinkles after a while. Those wrinkles are exposed to the sun and shade the shirt in three dimensions. The T-shirt with the shades cannot be duplicated, but I think that it is a vivid “photograph” showing a real record.

The image of wrinkles fixed on the cloth varies with the brightness of ultraviolet rays when it is exposed in different weather or season, as well as with the quality of cloth and the depth of wrinkles. What is most influential on the shape of wrinkles is the relation between the body shape of the person wearing the T-shirt and the shirt size. I used only the ready-made shirts of M-size in the exhibition, regardless of individual body type or gender. This also gives a form to restrict the photo taking.

I would like to develop Summer Sun series later on as a photo-T-shirt project to keep real records of various people. I sincerely hope you could come to the exhibition, although it is relatively for a short period this summer. People who are interested in participating in the project as a subject are always welcome.
